Our Program

Country Mean solar day has a long and storied athletics history with rich tradition. Whether demonstrated by the achievements of individuals and teams or the memories in the hearts of our student-athletes and coaches, our Bucs Spirit defines our success.

The State Day athletics program builds on the lessons our educatee-athletes are learning in the classroom, serves every bit a focal point of schoolhouse and customs pride, and connects us with peer schools and communities across our campus.

Our Facilities

Our 2 campuses include a total range of facilities that provide our student-athletes the spaces they demand to train effectively and compete at the highest level. Highlights include: 11 natural grass playing fields, 2 swimming pools, 2 gymnasiums, indoor and outdoor tracks, 2 sports medicine facilities, a large weight room, and more.

Klein Aquatic Center

The newly opened Klein Aquatic Center includes an 8-lane 25-grand competition pool, five-lane 25-one thousand warm-up/activity pool, generous seating chapters to host large community events, and ample space for both our Heart School and varsity swim teams to participate.

Harris Performance Gym

This newly opened facility serves as our primary competition infinite for volleyball, basketball, and wrestling, with seating for over 1,200 spectators to cheer on our Bucs. The weight room and wrestling/multipurpose rooms allow for training opportunities for all sports.

Athletics Circuitous

Opens winter 2022. Our comprehensive Athletics Complex—which includes the Bruton Smith Athletic Heart—also includes a wrestling room, weight room, a health and wellness area, visitors' locker room, and administrative offices.

Bruton Smith Able-bodied Center

The Bruton Smith Athletic Centre houses the Harris Gymnasium, which is where our Lower School PE program takes place. The gym features an elevated indoor track, three full-size practise courts. The lower level of the building includes the O'Leary Sports Medicine Centre.

O'Leary Sports Medicine Center

This facility is comparable to some of the nation's all-time college centers.

Belk Stadium and John Melt Field

Our largest outdoor competition venue, Belk Stadium is domicile to our football and boys soccer teams in the fall and our girls soccer teams in the leap. Central features of the venue include a full-size natural grass field, an eight-lane all-atmospheric condition track with field event areas, lighting for night competitions, bleacher seating for 2,500 spectators, concession, restroom, and ticketing facilities, and a 2-level press box.

Rankin Tennis Courts

Country Day's varsity and JV tennis teams practise at Rankin Lawn tennis Courts, an eight-court facility. Four of the eight courts tin be lit for nighttime play. Bleacher seating is built into the hillside adjacent to the courts.

Soccer trains on Crawford Field, baseball plays on Ed Walton Field, field hockey and lacrosse play on Dowd Field, and softball has its on field, too.

Bissell Campus Athletics Facilities

Our Middle School campus features four designated fields for practices and competitions for field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, baseball, softball, and football. The baseball and softball diamonds both feature batting cage areas, and the football/soccer field is ringed by a four-lane track. In improver, tennis teams play on 6 courts. Basketball and volleyball programs practise and compete in the designated gym, which provides ample spectator seating and includes a sports medicine facility.

Athletics News

Despite the hard loss in the second round of the NCISAA Boys Basketball game Playoffs, the Bucs had a remarkable flavor.

She joins us from Hough High School where she served equally head coach for 5 seasons and played Division 1 softball at UNCW.

The new 30,000 square foot facility is scheduled to open in the spring of 2022.
